Legalising documents

If you are required to present a legalised Tanzanian document to the Danish authorities, please follow this guideline;

Step 1
Submit the document to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tanzania, Consular Department. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tanzania certifies that the document is genuine and has been issued by its authority. Consequently the document will be legalised with a stamp and signature.

Step 2
Book an appointment at the Embassy of Denmark via [email protected], Mondays and Thursdays from 13:00 to 15:00. The Embassy of Denmark legalises the same document by appending to it a certificate proving the right of the official at the Tanzanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to issue such certificates.

Service fee
The Embassy of Denmark charges a service fee of 82,000 TZS. We only accept payment by credit or debit card - No cash payments.

Important - In case of newly re-issued documents.

In cases where a document has recently been re-issued, the Embassy request further documentation to support the re-issued document. This may include reason for re-issuing the document (fx. a birth certificate) and documentation that may also have been part of applying to RITA for new documents such as clinic card, Baptismal certificate if applicable, school leaving certificates, letter from relevant government authorities such as Ward Executive Officer (WEO), Village Executive Officer), proof of date of birth, place of birth and nationality of parents etc.
