Great to be present here at the MS Training Center for Development Cooperation (or MS TCDC as we all know it). MS TCDC has a history of over 50 years and has played an important role in the relationship between Denmark and Tanzania.
Historically, Danish volunteers came to MS TCDC to learn about African culture and African solutions to our common problems. Today MS TCDC is so much more than that; it is a well-known East African training center where individuals and groups from civil society organisations and state institutions in the region come to receive training on topics important to them in their work and leadership for development.
MS TCDC is a product of a historic government to government agreement between the governments of Denmark and of Tanzania, and is part of Action Aid Denmark, a long standing civil society partner of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As Ambassador, I am excited to strengthen the ties between Tanzania and Denmark through this new collaboration by launching the collaboration with another partner from Denmark, namely the Danida Fellowship Centre, which is also a close collaborator of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Danida Fellowship Centre has for over half a century provided training for partners in Danida funded development cooperation programmes in Africa and elsewhere. The partnership between the Fellowship Centre and MS TCDC will join together the expertise of the two institutions and strengthen the training they offer together and apart.
Together, the two institutions represent 100+ years of experience in transformative training.
This new partnership will draw many Danida partners from around the globe to Tanzania and will allow for many opportunities for people of this region and people from other regions of Africa and the world to learn from each other.
Tanzania and Denmark have had a special relationship for 60 years. The partnership has taken many forms and is about to transform again [with the plans to close the Danish Embassy in 2024]. The DFC/TCDC partnership for impact builds beautifully on our longstanding relations. It will leave new and significant TZ/DK footprints for the benefit of all.
