Macroeconomic Analysis and Trade Council

If you are interested in international development cooperation and Danish companies engagement in Africa and have an interest in applied macroeconomics as well as public finance. Then an internship as a part of the Macroeconomic and Trade Council team could be a great opportunity for you.

As an intern, you will be part of the daily work at the embassy and the Macroeconomic and Trade Council team in particular. The team works closely with the Ministry of Finance and Planning other governmental institutions as well as research institutions in order to support and strengthen policy, financial management, and administration. The Trade Council advises Danish companies on doing business in Tanzania. The tasks of the intern are various but will include:

  • Monitoring, analysing and reporting on the economic situation in Tanzania
  • Contributing to and preparing documents on Danish development cooperation
  • Participating in meetings and dialogue with partners and stakeholders
  • Assisting Danish companies in Tanzania through our Trade Council activities
  • Communication and event planning: e.g. assist with preparations of Nordic Week
  • Communicate about Tanzania and Denmark, the Danish development assistance, etc. of relevance to the Danish-Tanzanian relations

    We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:

  • Enrollment at a university studying economics or similar field

  • Good analytical skills

  • Interest in and preferable experience with international development issues

  • Strong language skills in both English and Danish

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work in a team is essential

Danish citizens must be enrolled at a Danish or foreign institution of higher education. Foreign citizens must have lived in Denmark for a period of 3-4 years, must be enrolled at a Danish institution of higher education and must live in Denmark at the time of the deadline of the application.

The internships will last from the 1st of February 2020 until the 31st of July 2020. The three interns will live together. Depending on your individual study arrangements in Denmark, you may be eligible to receive the Danish State Education Grant (SU) during the internship. The internship is unpaid but the embassy will reimburse specified expenses related to the internship (e.g. airfare, vaccinations and insurance) and according to receipts submitted, within a total monthly ceiling of DKK 3,800. If you do not receive SU during the internship, the monthly supplement of DKK 3,800 can be paid without further documentation.
