INTERNSHIP IN GOOD GOVERNANCE AND COMMUNICATION

Do you wish to assist in the implementation of a DKK 250 million Good Governance Programme in Tanzania? Do you have an interest in monitoring a political situation where power dynamics are changing? Are you motivated by effective communication of Danish development assistance to both a Danish and Tanzanian audience? Do you enjoy event planning and thrive with responsibility? If so, the position as good governance and communication intern at the Danish embassy in Dar es Salaam could be of interest to you.

 

As a good governance and communication intern, you will take active part in the daily work at the embassy at a very interesting time, and you will be able to work with all sectors of the embassy thus obtaining solid insight into the policies and operations of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Your main tasks will be: 

 

Communication and event planning:

  • Coordinate embassy events such as Nordic Week and Nordic Sports Day
  • Update and maintain the embassy’s webpage and Facebook profile including producing news stories
  • Assist the embassy with general communication and cultural assignments
  • Communicate about Tanzania and Denmark, the Danish development assistance, etc. of relevance to the Danish-Tanzanian relations

Good Governance:

  • Assist the Governance team in the implementation of the Tanzania Governance Support Programme, including support to civil society, human rights, and gender equality
  • Monitor, analyse and report on the current political and development situation in Tanzania
  • Participate in dialogue with different partners and stakeholder incl. government, civil society organisations and other development partners

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. political science, law, international relations, development studies, journalism, communication or similar)
  • Strong communication and coordination skills and good understanding of social media dynamics
  • Knowledge and familiarity with international development and good governance, incl. human rights, civil society and gender equality. Area specific knowledge and experience is considered an asset
  • Excellent English and Danish language skills (written and oral)
  • Responsible, independent and dynamic with strong inter-personal skills

 

In the selection of the candidate, relevant professional and cultural experience from travelling or living abroad will be taken into consideration.

TERMS OF INTERNSHIP 

Danish citizens must be enrolled at a Danish or foreign institution of higher education. Foreign citizens must have lived in Denmark for a period of 3-4 years, must be enrolled at a Danish institution of higher education and must live in Denmark at the time of the deadline of the application.

The internships will last from the 1st of February 2020 until the 31st of July 2020. The three interns will live together. Depending on your individual study arrangements in Denmark, you may be eligible to receive the Danish State Education Grant (SU) during the internship. The internship is unpaid but the embassy will reimburse specified expenses related to the internship (e.g. airfare, vaccinations and insurance) and according to receipts submitted, within a total monthly ceiling of DKK 3,800. If you do not receive SU during the internship, the monthly supplement of DKK 3,800 can be paid without further documentation.
